A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Georgia for an interdisciplinary research project at the intersection of marine microbial ecology and metabolomics. The position is affiliated with the Center for Chemical Currencies of a Microbial Planet (C-CoMP; ccomp-stc.org), an NSF Science and Technology Center, and focuses on communities of marine bacteria, production and consumption of microbial metabolites, and processes that determine the fate of surface ocean carbon.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline; preferred qualifications include experience in microbial biology (genomics, ecology, or energetics) or chemistry. Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, bioinformatics, or metabolomics will be beneficial. Applications consisting of a letter of interest, CV, and names of three references can be sent to mmoran@uga.edu and will be accepted until the successful candidate is identified. The position is available in July, 2023.
The position will be housed in either the microbial ecology lab of Mary Ann Moran or the biochemistry lab of Art Edison at the University of Georgia, depending on the successful candidate’s interests. Further information about the Moran lab can be found at moranresearch.org, and about the Edison lab at edisonomics.org. Questions can be directed to Mary Ann Moran (mmoran@uga.edu) or Art Edison (aedison@uga.edu).
