The project will involve the development of a plant-soil mesocosm system for the mechanistic testing of the impact of AMF on N-cycling microbial groups and N-cycling processes. State-of-the-art techniques will be applied for tracing the fate and fluxes of nitrogen (stable isotope probing, nanoSIMS, gas analysis system), monitoring changes in microbial communities (qPCR, amplicon sequencing, metatranscriptomics) and modelling soil N2O emissions. This project will also benefit from on-going collaboration with internal, national and international team members with complementary expertise in microbial ecology, nitrogen cycling, stable isotopes and modelling.
Interested candidates should have a PhD in a related field and a demonstrable publication record. Those with experience in mycorrhizal fungi or soil nitrogen cycling are particularly encouraged to apply. The start date is flexible and the gross salary is 34k (euro) per year.
