Postdoctoral research fellow position in metagenomics and environmental microbiology/biotechnology

Postdoc position in metagenomics, molecular environmental microbiology, computational biology (machine learning modeling using microbiome data)

A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of environmental microbiology and biotechnology is available in Environmental Engineering Laboratory at Kyung Hee University. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who holds a PhD in microbiology, environmental engineering, bioinformatics (metagenomics), or related fields. The successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills (with spoken/written English) and be highly motivated, independent, and self-directed.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research on diversity of microbes (virus/bacteria) in the urban water cycle, wastewater-based epidemiology, or bioprocess engineering for micropollutant removals. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in laboratory experiments with pure and bioprocess engineering, molecular microbiological techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA/cDNA preparation for Illumina sequencing), bioinformatics experience in analyzing high throughput sequence data (e.g., metagenomic and 16S rRNA gene sequence data), or building artificial intelligence models (e.g., machine learning) using microbiome data.

The appointment will be extended to up to 3 years based upon satisfactory performance. We will provide competitive salary/benefits depending on the candidate's qualification, under the University guideline. The position is immediately available and will remain open until filled. Interested candidates can apply by sending a single PDF file, including i) a cover letter describing research interests/strengths, ii) a CV, and iii) contact information of at least three references, to Prof. Oh (soh@khu.ac.kr).
