Postdoctoral positions in gut microbiome research

Positions to study drug-microbiome and microbiome-host interactions using human gut microbiomes and multi-omic techniques.

Postdoctoral fellowship positions are available in the Figeys's laboratory at the Ottawa Institute of Systems Biology, University of Ottawa, Canada. The selected candidates will be involved in projects on multi-omic studies of the human gut microbiota, and drug-microbe and host-microbe interactions. Dr. Figeys laboratory and its close collaborators already have well-established technical and bioinformatic platforms for performing proteomics/metaproteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics and metatranscriptomics studies. State-of-the art and project-relevant instruments installed in the labs include several high-resolution mass spectrometers (LTQ Velos Obitrap Elite, Q Exactive, Exploris, etc.) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography, next-generation sequencers (Ion torrent PGM and Ion Proton Sequencer), and three large-capacity anaerobic workstations. The postdoctoral fellows will collaborate closely with technicians, students and other PDFs in the lab. They will also interact with multi-disciplinary teams including biochemistry, microbiology, clinical teams, as well as industrial collaborators.
