The Trivedi Lab at Colorado State University seeks a postdoctoral researcher in the area of the environmental microbiome. This position is part of a National Science Foundation-supported research effort that investigates the structure and function of the aerobiome, and how it interacts with terrestrial ecosystems. Emphasis will be placed on using “omics” techniques, statistical modeling, genome-scale modeling, and microbial genetic approaches to understand the key microbial players and processes, the microbial metabolic and signaling interactions taking place, and the genes and molecules driving aerobiome- ecosystem interactions. This project will require strong computational and analytical skills in analyzing large sequencing datasets and modeling microbiome interactions. The position also requires conducting laboratory experiments for hypothesis testing. There will also be opportunities to participate in teaching and grant writing. There will be regular interactions with internal and external contacts, including collaborators and their laboratories, who provide sampling, data collection, and modeling expertise. The position requires collaboration with Dr. Susannah Tringe, Joint Genome Institute, to develop and implement new analysis pipelines to analyze high-throughput genomics datasets. The position requires advising and training undergraduate and graduate students associated with the research project(s). Optional teaching duties include the development of guest lectures in Dr. Trivedi’s classes and short course workshops.
