Assistant Professor in Microbial Ecology of Livestock

The Department of Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in livestock microbial ecology.

The Department of Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University (NDSU) seeks to fill a tenure-track, assistant professor (9 month) position in the area of livestock microbial ecology. Candidates with expertise in complex microbial systems impacting livestock health and production, and that can contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and outreach mission, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will advise and teach undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a nationally recognized, extramurally funded, independent research program. The Department partners with interdisciplinary graduate programs in genomics, environmental and conservation sciences, and cellular and molecular biology for access to well-qualified students and collaborators. The hired individual is expected and encouraged to collaborate with NDSU Animal Sciences researchers who specialize in beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep, and equine research.

The Microbiological Sciences department offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The individual hired for this position will also have access to high-powered computing clusters, extensive facilities for livestock research and a federally inspected abattoir, as well as a collaborative network of scientists, extension personnel, and a supportive agricultural community.
